Yakub Chitrakar, a veteran Patachitra artist from Naya, Pingla started painting  at the age of nine under the guidance of his father late Khandu Chitrakar. He paints traditional Pat on themes like Ramayana, Mahabharata and contemporary social issues like literacy campaign. He has travelled to Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, Goa, Chennai and London to showcase his talent. He has won the district award and the state award and was awarded by Rabindra Bharati University.
